Get Prepared Now That You Want To Start A Business!

Okay, so you’ve decided to start a business… Congrats! That’s great news, now the fun part starts… executing your plan. This blog post will guide you through some pivotal steps that you need to take to efficiently start your set up.  We’re assuming you’ve got your idea for the product or service you will offer, if you haven’t…we're here to give you a jump start..... Let’s get started!

1. Think Of A Name

First things first, and you probably saw this coming… Think of a name. Now when starting a business, it can be very easy to get carried away with cool designs and creating amazing promotional graphics or heading straight into the marketing side… but before all of that, you need to think of your name. Once you’ve got that… its time to move on!

2. Set Up An Email

Once you’ve got your name sorted out, it’s time to set up an email account. Now, this is a mistake most business owners make which is to try and set up all of your social accounts before they have an email in the businesses name.

This can get confusing because lots of start up business owners may use their personal email as they get carried away with the excitement of creating there vision. So make sure you get an email in the businesses name, trust us… it will help later on!

The most useful type of email is one that includes your company name in the domain portion.  e.g.   example@company.com

3. Get All The Social Media Names

Right, now the fun stuff can start! Now you’ve got an email, it’s time to get signing up to all of the social media platforms in your businesses name. Using your new business email!

See, it all makes sense now right?

It’s also important to mention that when getting your social media accounts, even if you don’t think you will use a certain social media… we recommend you sign up anyway just to get the username so it gives you the option in the future.

Try your best to stay consistent with all your social media names. The more alike and consistent they are, the easier it will be for your customers to find and engage with your company.

4. Secure A Domain

The next step on your start up business journey is to secure a domain name.

This is crucial if you want to have a website for your business. It’s a relatively inexpensive investment but is very important to get the right domain. That’s why we recommend getting one during the start up phase, even if you aren’t looking to create a website just yet… but securing a domain name stops someone else buying it because you would be the owner of it. So what are you waiting for, go get a domain name now!

5. Sort Out Your ‘Plumbing’

Now not the most exciting part of business, but arguably the most important.

What we mean by ‘plumbing’ is the back end of the business. This is the operational side and the part that the customers don’t see.

For example, if you are a product based business, this would be the shipping and how you will fulfil an order as quickly and efficiently as possible. In the service sector, it will be about how you can provide your service to your customer.

Before you move on through the list, spend some time focusing on sorting out your plumbing. You will thank us later.

6. Identify Your Target Market

This is where things get exciting.  It’s time to start thinking about your customers and who they are. Identifying a target market is important as it will help you in your marketing later on.

In order to understand who your target market is. Think about who is most likely to use your product/service and why. You could segregate this by demographic, age or gender. These are great ways to separate a whole market into sub categories which makes it easier for you to identify your target market.

7. You're Almost There

Okay, so you've successfully set up how you can communicate about your business and present it on social media.  Your visionary idea has now manifested its way into the digital universe to be seen by the world. This is where ideas start to become reality.

Next on your agenda will be tackling the legal and administrative requirements of starting your business and having your business name, business email, and business social media accounts will be useful in your legal formation.

Your off to a great start! Good luck, and stay tuned for more business blog posts coming soon.
